
| The Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life' (John 3:16). What a blessing it is to be favored with the grace (unmerited favor) of God's love. To understand the meaning of His love towards us, is to understand the type of love He expects from us. In today's world, the term love is often used loosely. We view love as a purely emotional experience. We say things like, 'I fell in love" or "it was love at first sight." Now, the emotional connection may be real, but true love is not something you "fall into" or you experience when you look at a person. True love is an experience you grow into, based on your commitment to God and to another person. Love is a process, birthed out of sacrifice and self denial. Love is when you discomfort yourself, for the comfort of another. Jesus is our great example. In John 13:34-35, He provides a simple plan for a love filled life: "A new commandment I that I give unto you, |
